If that address is unreachable
A closed mailbox, a former work address, or a lost domain means no link can reach you, and there is no other automatic way in — that is the cost of holding no password. Contact us from Support using an address you can read, and say which community you belong to and roughly when you joined.
We verify identity before changing the address on an account, because the same request from someone else would be an account takeover. That verification is done by a person, so it is not instant, and we cannot promise an outcome before it is done. A commissioner cannot move your account for you, and no recovery ever rewrites a finished result.
